A steady earner for the club shop

The scarf is often the best-selling item in a club shop, and one of the most profitable. At 250 pieces, a knitted jacquard scarf costs £3.65 ex VAT per scarf, and clubs typically sell them for several times that on match days. A single order at the start of the season can help pay for a new set of youth kits or a few nights of floodlight hire.

How clubs use their scarves

  • The club shop: the official scarf, sold in the clubhouse, at the turnstile and online.
  • Players and members: included in the season membership or the junior section welcome pack, or given at Christmas.
  • Sponsors: a scarf with the club on one side and the sponsor on the other, in HD woven.
  • Big occasions: promotion, a county cup final, an FA Cup or FA Vase run, or the club’s centenary, with a dated limited edition.

From Sunday league to the National League

We make scarves for clubs of every size. A grassroots or Sunday league side can order the minimum of 50 scarves to kit out players, parents and committee members. A non-league club with a regular gate can order several hundred for the club shop and a separate run for its supporters’ trust. Youth clubs often add a junior scarf in the same colours for the mini-soccer age groups.

Which technique should you choose?

For a scarf worn on the terraces, knitted jacquard remains the benchmark: warm, thick and authentic. If your badge is detailed, step up to HD jacquard, whose finer stitch keeps the details intact. The configurator shows you the difference in one click.

Guide

Our advice

  • Club scarf budget

A club scarf budget comes down to two things: the technique and the quantity. Prices are per scarf, ex VAT and excluding delivery, and they drop at 100, 250, 500 and 1,000 pieces. Add any extras, check the next tier up, and plan resale before you order.

  • Design a football scarf

To design a football scarf, pick a technique, set your colours, wording and crest in the configurator, choose a quantity (50 minimum) and approve the free design proof. Production then takes 4–6 weeks.

  • Scarf slogan ideas

The best scarf slogan is short, in capitals and in strong contrast: about 15 characters on classic jacquard and 25 on HD jacquard. Here are 50 ideas sorted by theme to help you find yours.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need permission from the FA or our league to make a club scarf?

No, not for your own colours, name and crest. You cannot, however, reproduce the badge of the FA, a league, a competition or another club without written permission.

How long does it take to get scarves for a particular match?

Allow 4 to 6 weeks after you approve the proof. If your date is tight, the express option shortens the lead time: give us your deadline when you request a quote.

Can we order home and away designs in the same order?

Yes, as long as you order at least 50 scarves per design. Many clubs do exactly that, with a home scarf and an away scarf.

Can we sell the scarves at our ground?

Yes. The scarves are yours to sell, give away or include in a membership pack. Most clubs sell them in the clubhouse or from a table by the turnstile.
